A Taste of Rome by Pizza A Modo Mio is the fourth location in the growing Pizza A Modo Mio family and a new chapter in a story built on passion, hard work, family, and a love for authentic Italian food.
Founded by Mike Pitera and his wife, Julie, Pizza A Modo Mio began with a simple goal: bring the traditions, flavors, and neighborhood feel of a New York pizzeria to the Charleston community. What started as a food truck has grown into four locations, each built around the same commitment to quality ingredients, authentic recipes, and treating customers and employees like family.
Mike’s passion for pizza began at just 15 years old, working in New York pizzerias and learning the craft from the ground up. Over the years, that passion has taken him far beyond the walls of his own restaurants. As a member of the U.S. Pizza Team, Mike has competed nationally and internationally, including on the world stage in Italy. He has had the opportunity to train, collaborate, and learn alongside talented pizzaiolos from around the world, continually bringing new techniques, traditions, and inspiration back home to South Carolina.
That experience helped inspire A Taste of Rome.
This location brings together some of the most popular items guests already know and love from Pizza A Modo Mio while introducing an expanded menu inspired by Italian tradition and modern café-style dining. Guests can enjoy signature pizza alongside fresh pasta, made-to-order chopped salads, appetizers, breakfast items, bagels, coffee and lattes, desserts, and more.
The concept was created to offer something for every part of the day—from grabbing coffee and breakfast in the morning to enjoying a fresh salad, pasta, or pizza for lunch and dinner.
While the menu may be expanding, the philosophy remains the same: use quality ingredients, respect the craft, never stop learning, and serve food the family is proud to put its name behind.
